Jennifer Mehigan is interested in how power manifests in the world. Her work has always been situated somewhere between art and design, and in the past few years she has focused on widening the scope of technologies she uses to include modes of artificial intelligence and virtual/augmented reality, floristry, writing, parties, and meditative performances and films.

I am an artist and researcher based between Belfast and West Cork. My PhD research focuses on Irish lesbian historical figures and their graves as horticultural sites, with an interest in mapping networks of data and land management in Ireland as a means of discovering alternative strategies for navigating power and surviving our contemporary crises of connection and climate.

I co-founded the artist-run cafe FRUIT SHOP with Mitch Conlon and Phillip McCrilly, and work as a project manager for Belfast’s only queer DIY music and artist studio space The 343. I am also part of the architecture and nightlife collective Temporary Pleasure

I am available for commissioned work and have previously worked in consultancy, art direction, research, and design roles for MTV, Walter van Beirendonck, fakbyfak, Eytys, WAH nails, Beautystack, Penthouse, Smirnoff, Sub Pop Records, Burton, and Dazed Digital amongst others. I am sometimes available at sliding scale rates for community organisations and emerging creative projects.
